a late valentine's night out

it started with these...

(which hasn't happened since...ummmm, 2006)

and ended here...

we had such a good time talking, laughing, and dipping dipping dipping.

it was our 3rd date in 2 years and what we have lacked in quantity, we made up for with quality.
(not that i recommend this pattern for other couples. it's good to have frequent one-on-one time and it's something that we are recommitting to make a priority.)

while we were getting ready to go, caleb was asking us what "dates" were and when he would be able to go on them. we talked about him being 16 and then eventually marrying someone who he dated a lot.

as we walked out the door, caleb yelled to me,

"have fun with your husband, mom!"

and i did.

Awesome! It's so wonderful to see you both so happy. You can see it in your smiles. Wish we were there and we could double. :) Your dates seem to be about as frequent as ours! :) I wish it were easy to plan a time to come visit . . . unfortunately, there always seems to be so much going on! When I think of the coming year, with a new baby and so many different family events this summer (not that I'd even THINK about coming to AZ in July) and then school schedules in the Fall . . . {{sigh}} Then when you two are up visiting, you are so busy with your own families, that even though you're close, it's still so hard. -- And come to think of it, you guys get to have the fun of elementary school schedules this coming Fall too, don't you?! How joyous for you! (not.) Someday, Lynsey, Ben, we will see one another in person again. and have a grand old time doing so! :)

That would be collin's perfect dinner. He is the slowest eater ever and loves fondue. Looks like fun! And, BTW, I love Leah's hair! Your kids are cuties!

First off, you guys just get better and better looking as the years go on. You are such a gorgeous couple and that picture just melts my heart - two of my very favorite smiles in the world!

Secondly, GOOD FOR YOU! I almost didn't dare ask about your Valentine's when we were on the phone because I know things have been rough with school, work, money, etc. and didn't want to depress you. But HOOOOOOORAAAAAAAAYYYYYY! Nobody deserves a yummy, romantic night out more than you two.
